Hackney: Living in the Heart of London
Hackney is a vibrant and exciting borough that can be found in North East London. Hackney is an area with a rich and fascinating history, and over 1000 listed buildings, including the Hackney Empire, Tudor Sutton House and the medieval St. Augustine’s Tower. Nowadays Hackney is often seen as a cultural and artistic place in which to live or visit, and its many art galleries and theatres to be found, including the Arcola Theatre, National Centre of Circus Arts, the Geffrye Museum, Hackney Empire and Hoxton Hall. There are always entertaining things to be found in Hackney, whether you want to see a community play, stand-up comedy or if you want to explore the museums and galleries. Hackney is served by only two underground railway lines, making it a little difficult to access by tube. Most travellers to and from Hackney prefer to use the overground railway, or the many bus routes.
