Learn about the Southend-on-Sea
Southend-on-Sea is located in the county of Essex, around 40 miles east of central London. It is a popular tourist spot thanks to its beaches; in particular, visitors come to see the wildlife as seals can often be spotted along the coast. It is also popular thanks to its pier, the longest in the world at 1.34 miles. The seafront also offers many more attractions including Adventure Island amusement park, an aquarium, and the Southend Cliff Railway. And every year the town plays host to a motorcycle and scooter event called the Southend Shakedown and an annual film festival both of which attract thousands of visitors to the town. And all of this can be easily enjoyed thanks to the local road, rail and bus transport options.
