How Do You Make Halloween Costumes?
As Halloween is getting closer and closer you may be hard-pressed for time, so you will need to find a way to make a costume fast and at the very last minute. There are many ways you can do this, and you certainly have the imagination to make the best costume out there. The following ideas should serve as an inspiration to you. Keep in mind there are many items you can use, so do your best to avoid trashing them during waste collection and overall junk clearance. Let’s get started on some of the last-minute Halloween costumes you can make on your own:
• The Crazy Cat Lady
Do you like cat plush toys? Do you like cats? Do you own a bathrobe you can turn into your very own crazy cat lady outfit? If that is the case you have everything you need to make it happen. If you don’t have the plush cats you can simply buy a few and sew them onto the robe. Buy some curlers, do your hair and you will look like an 80s classic come to life, assuming you didn’t throw any of these items away during your weekly waste removal.
• 404 Costume Not Found
Yeah, this is a bit of a lazy cop out of the whole costume craze around Halloween, but the truth is not everyone has the time or inclination to make a costume before the big night. Just grab a nice, clean white T-shirt and use a marker to write Error 404: Costume Not Found on it. Is it simple, yet practical and good enough to last the night? Yep.
• The 80s Getup
Speaking of the 80s there is no better way to make use of the plethora of pop culture references you to that day and age. Just dress up in 80s fashion and do your hair in a way relevant to the 80s. Asking people what year it is in a serious tone is just part of the fun. Points for making them believe you time travelled from the past. If you have any items you can use from those days that haven’t ended up as part of your waste collection spree over the years, then even better.
• The Classic Ghost
We’ve all done it when we were kids – slapping a bed sheet with two holes punched through it and calling it a day. The truth is nothing is stopping you from doing this in the very last minute as well, assuming you’re not ashamed to wear the most generic of generic costumes you can make for Halloween. Use older sheets you haven’t tossed out during rubbish clearance and you will do just fine.
• The Spider
If you own several black sweaters then this is the best time to utilise them. Really anything black and long-sleeved will do, as long as you tie up two of the sweaters’ sleeves and you stuff them with socks for substance. Put them on, but make sure you choose thin ones since it will get hot in them fast. You can use old pantyhose that’s end up in the rubbish disposal bin otherwise too. These will look like your extra limbs, so all you need to do is add more eyes to your head and you’re done. Your spider costume will be ready in a few short minutes.
• The Cat
You can always go for the sexy cat outfit with minimal work. Chances are you can find this outfit easily in the nearest store, but if for some reason they are out of these you can make your own without too much work. As long as you didn’t throw any useful items away during your last house clearance you will have what you need. Just get a diadem and some felt to make the cat ears, then paint on some whiskers and a black nose and voila, you’re done in a flash. Cattail and catnip obsession not included.
