About Tufnell Park
The area is part of North London situated within the Boroughs of Islington and Camden. It uses the N7 and N19 postcode districts and is close to Archway, Kentish Town, Holloway, Upper Holloway and Gospel Oak. These fall within the N6, N7, NW3 and NW5 areas. A Roman road once existed here and it became famous for its dairy farms that supplied milk all over London. Around 1845, major construction took place to develop new homes and other buildings that would be occupied by merchants and dancehall performers. With the completion of the railway, it became fully urbanised. The region is these days often the setting of television shows. Many notable people have lived here at various times such as actors Sir Christopher Lee, Ben Miller, Helen McCroy, Damian Lewis and Bill Nighy. Musicians have included Graham McPherson, Suggs, Jonny Buckland and A.R. Rahman. Members of Parliament who have lived in the area are Tessa Jowell, Neil Kinnock and Jeremy Corbyn. Various other residents of this district are artist Fermin Rocker, comedian Charlie Higson, journalists Jon Snow, DJ Zane Lowe and film director Roger Mitchell.
