What we do
Life in Thimble End, B76
Located north of Walmley, Thimble End was once an area of farmland that was covered in rectangular fields, with nothing but a few craftsmen, labourers and the owner of the Birmingham brassfoundry listed in the 1891 census. The first actual and serious housing development begins after WWII with more building during the 1970s and continuing on today. Much of the land around here has been left free to public access. The name of the area comes from the Thimble Mill located on Aston Brook back during the Tudor days, or so it is believed, but the actual origins of the name are lost to time. Thimble End is an area in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham.
